1.10. Kanban in IT & Software

As David says in his book ‘Blue Book’ - Kanban is not a Software Development project, rather, is it a project management methodology. The main purpose of Kanban is in order to gradually leverage on one’s work load, rather than being a management framework compared to scrum.

The Kanban Method was used by Microsoft's Software development projects in 2004. Till now, Kanban has been adopted wholly in the IT industry, Ops, DevOps and application teams.

Kanban can be used I any methodology. It doesn’t matter whether you are using Agile methods like Scrum, XP and the traditional methods like waterfall, iterative and many more. Applying Kanban to that will largely increase your process, reduce the cycle time and improve on the work flow and quality. This will initiate a faster and continuous delivery of products and features.
